The Wonders Of Fermentation with Natalya Watson

  • Cloudwater Unit 9 Tap Room 9 Gidding Rd England, M1 2NP United Kingdom (map)

Join beer sommelier Natalya Watson as we explore the wonders of yeast and make sense of the microorganisms involved in fermentation.

A renowned beer educator and Advanced Cicerone, Natalya will lead you through key developments in the history of brewing yeast, while enjoying classic beers related to these landmark moments.

You'll learn how a ban on summer brewing in Germany in 1553 led to the introduction of lager yeast and take time to better understand the magic of spontaneous fermentation.

We'll also look at how ale yeast has been used at Lager temperatures to create unique beers steeped in regional heritage, before taking a closer look at some unique ale strains and their role in forging styles we know and love.

It's a unique chance to learn a little more about the intricacies of an often-underappreciated beer ingredient with help from one of the UK's foremost beer experts.

Included in the event will be four beers that relate to different parts of the journey and Natalya will guide you through a tasting of each one.
